We are currently searching for an experienced Qualified Mechanical Fitter for an exciting opportunity based in Vanderbijlpark. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in heavy industrial maintenance, with experience in the maintenance, repair, installation, and fault-finding of mechanical plant equipment, including conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, vibrating screens, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a heavy industrial environment for an upcoming opportunity based in Vanderbijlpark.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault-finding, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment to ensure optimal plant performance and reliability.

- Trade Tested Mechanical Fitter (Red Seal)

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a heavy industrial environment

- Experience with mechanical maintenance and fault-finding

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

- Strong commitment to health and safety standards

- Valid medical fitness certificate advantageous

- Must be able to provide own basic fitter's toolbox and hand tools

- Must be willing to work in accordance with site safety requirements

- Perform planned and preventative maintenance

- Conduct breakdown repairs and fault-finding

- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment

- Replace and repair bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and related components

- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and site requirements

- Complete maintenance reports and job documentation

- Participate in shutdown and maintenance activities as required

Preventive and planned maintenance on mechanical equipment.

Breakdown maintenance and fault-finding to minimise plant downtime.

Installation, alignment, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.

Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling mechanical components.

Replacing bearings, shafts, seals, couplings, gearboxes, pumps, and other rotating equipment.

Maintenance and repair of conveyor systems, crushers, vibrating screens, feeders, kilns, mills, and hydraulic equipment.

Performing precision alignment using dial indicators and laser alignment equipment.

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.

Conducting routine inspections and identifying worn, damaged, or defective components.

Carrying out welding, cutting, and light fabrication where required.

Lubricating plant equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules.

Working safely under Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Completing maintenance reports, job cards, and equipment documentation accurately.

Collaborating with maintenance planners and production teams to minimise downtime and maximise plant availability.

Participating in planned shutdowns, breakdowns, and major plant overhauls.

Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Performing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

Ensuring all maintenance work is completed to manufacturer and company standards.

Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times.

Assisting with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and maintenance efficiency.

Experience with conveyor systems.
