POSITION INFO

Artisan Diesel Mechanic Contractor - Sasolburg, Freestate Purpose of the job: To support the production plants by providing effective maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment while adhering to procedures/codes and utilising all available support resources to continuously increase stability and availability of equipment by minimizing downtime, improve equipment reliability and support business targets. Key performance outputs: Adhere to all safety regulations and work standards. Carry out planned maintenance activities to Diesel equipment and vehicles. Conduct basic risk assessments on task to be performed. Conduct fault-finding and identify equipment failure modes by applying basic asset management principles. Basic understanding of reliability engineering principles (MTBF, basic failure trending, understand the link between failures and maintenance strategies). Be able to accurately scope parts and services required to conduct equipment / vehicle maintenance as per end user's request. Be able to communicate and influence decisions and actions of stakeholders on other departments. Be able to prioritize, track work and follow through on tasks (including administrative) to support turn around times on maintenance activities. Maintain required housekeeping standards at area of work and in workshop. Conduct Safety Management inspections Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Prepared to do physical and uncomfortable work as stipulated in the job description. Willingness to coach and transfer knowledge from own known environment and experience. Be willing to perform standby duties and work overtime when required (in accordance with legislation) Be willing and capable to act in supervisory position and fulfil supervisory responsibilities as and when required. Be able to manage self, work individually but also as part of a team. Must be a self-driven individual. Job Requirements: Education: NQF 4 trade test Section 28 trade tested artisan (Diesel Artisan) Drivers licence - code EC (Valid PDP will be advantageous) Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified artisan maintaining diesel and petrol vehicles Previous experience on Truck tractors and trailing equipment (Mercedes Benz / MAN/ air brake systems) Previous experience on Earth Moving equipment (Bell / JCB front end loaders). Previous experience on hydraulic systems and operation. Previous experience on diesel driven locomotives (wish). Previous experience on forklifts (wish). Previous experience on tractors (wish). Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge on Sasol's Work Management System (wish) Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work independently without the need for direct supervision Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team. Able to work in dirty environments. Good communication skills, verbal and written. Ability to co-ordinate, plan and prioritize work.
