Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site Architectural Technologist role based in Mossel Bay. The Architectural Technologist will support the design team by developing detailed technical drawings, coordinating working and construction drawings, and preparing documentation that translates conceptual designs into buildable solutions. Day-to-day tasks include producing and revising architectural drawings, collaborating with architects and consultants, and ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant building codes and standards. The role also involves coordinating with contractors, managing drawing registers, and assisting with site-related queries to maintain design intent and quality. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of purpose-driven, carefully detailed projects that align with the studio’s commitment to timeless architecture and meaningful place making.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Architectural Technology, with the ability to translate design concepts into practical, buildable solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in Technical Drawing and preparation of detailed Working Drawings for architectural projects.
- Ability to develop clear, accurate Architectural Drawings that communicate design intent to project stakeholders.
- Competence in creating and coordinating Construction Drawings that comply with local regulations and industry standards.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in Archicad.
- Understanding of local building codes, construction methods, and materials, with attention to technical detail and quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary studio environment.
- Organized, thorough, and able to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines responsibly.
- Previous experience in an architectural practice and familiarity with South African building regulations will be advantageous.
