Finance Manager

TJ Group invites applications from qualified Finance professionals for the position of Finance Manager. The role will lead accounting, reporting, compliance, cash-flow management, and financial control across a diversified multi-company portfolio in Lesotho.

Role Purpose

To provide group-wide financial leadership while preserving separate accounting, tax, banking, and reporting records for each legal entity. The role will strengthen management reporting, statutory compliance, cash-flow control, audit readiness, budgeting, internal controls, and financial decision support.

Reporting and Role Boundaries

  • Leads the Finance function and supervises accounting outputs; does not replace the CEO, Board, or operational managers in commercial decision-making.
  • Maintains separate books and reporting for every legal entity and does not treat company funds or balances as interchangeable.
  • Oversees Accountants and provides functional direction to company Administrators on bookkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Works with Procurement, Operations, HR, and Marketing while retaining independent responsibility for financial control and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Accounting

  • Produce accurate monthly management accounts, cash-flow forecasts, balance-sheet reconciliations, and performance reports for each company.
  • Maintain appropriate charts of accounts, accounting policies, intercompany ledgers, and consolidation schedules.
  • Review journals, accruals, provisions, asset registers, inventory reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
  • Present clear financial analysis, risks, and recommendations to executive management and the Board.

Budgeting, Cash Flow and Decision Support

  • Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario analysis by company, branch, and business line.
  • Monitor liquidity, debt obligations, supplier exposures, working-capital requirements, and major contract financing needs.
  • Support pricing, tender costing, investment appraisal, and capital-expenditure decisions with reliable financial models.
  • Ensure expenditure remains within approved budgets and delegations.

Compliance, Tax and Audit

  • Oversee VAT, PAYE, income tax, payroll, and other statutory submissions for each company.
  • Coordinate external audits, maintain audit-ready schedules, and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards, tax requirements, banking covenants, and internal policies.
  • Maintain professional registration and ethical standards applicable to the accountancy profession in Lesotho.

Controls and Team Leadership

  • Design and enforce controls over banking, payments, revenue, receivables, procurement, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets.
  • Lead, coach, and assess Accountants and finance-facing Administrators.
  • Standardise reporting deadlines, review checklists, and financial document retention across all companies.
  • Investigate material variances, control failures, suspected fraud, or irregular transactions and report appropriately.

Key Performance Deliverables

  • Monthly management accounts for every company within an agreed close timetable.
  • Reliable 13-week cash-flow forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Complete and timely tax, payroll, and statutory submissions.
  • Separate and reconciled intercompany accounts supported by agreements and schedules.
  • Improved audit readiness, financial controls, and decision-quality reporting.

Minimum Qualifications And Experience

  • Qualified Chartered Certified Accountant with active ACCA membership in good standing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Eligible and willing to register with the Lesotho Institute of Accountants upon appointment.
  • At least five years of demonstrable post-qualification or senior-level finance experience, including management reporting and team supervision.
  • Experience managing finance across multiple companies, branches, or business units is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs, taxation, audit coordination, budgeting, cash flow, and internal controls.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
