Cost Estimator / Draughtsman

A leading bespoke manufacturing and shopfitting company in Randburg, JHB, specialising in luxury retail environments for some of the world's most prestigious brands is looking for a highly organised, technically minded individual to join our team as a Cost Estimator & Procurement Officer.

This is a critical role responsible for accurately interpreting technical drawings, compiling Bills of Materials (BOMs), preparing detailed project costings, and managing the procurement process from quotation through to supplier delivery.

• Interpret technical drawings and production documentation.
• Compile accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each project.
• Prepare detailed project cost estimates, including materials, labour, outsourced services and installation costs.
• Source quotations from suppliers and negotiate the best pricing.
• Issue purchase orders and manage procurement schedules.
• Maintain supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance.
• Ensure all materials are ordered within project timelines.
• Monitor price fluctuations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Work closely with the Design, Production and Project Management teams to ensure cost accuracy.
• Maintain costing databases and standard material pricing.
• Assist with value engineering and alternative material recommendations where appropriate.

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in estimating, costing or procurement within manufacturing, shopfitting, cabinetry or construction.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manufacturing drawings.
• Strong understanding of materials including timber, metal, acrylic, glass, hardware and lighting.
• Experience compiling Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP or costing systems will be advantageous.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

R25 000 - R35 000 dependant on experience.
