Data Support Analyst

Olive Tree Consulting Group

Olive Tree Consulting is looking for a Data Support Analyst to join our team in a full-time, permanent capacity. This role is a key part of our current engagement with a South African financial partner, where we are helping their leadership improve internal coordination. As a fully remote position, this is an opportunity for a detail-minded individual to support high-level advisory work from anywhere.

About the Role

At Olive Tree, we believe that clear information is the basis for good management. When data is messy or inconsistent, teams struggle to make decisions and stick to them. This role exists to prevent that friction by organizing the information our consultants and partners use every day. You will not just be moving numbers around: you will be ensuring that the records of our South African financial partner project are accurate, accessible, and meaningful. This is an entry-level position where you will gain exposure to management consulting by managing the vital data that keeps a project on track. You will report directly to our advisory leads and help us maintain a quiet, orderly rhythm for our client work.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain and update the tracking systems we use for our South African financial partner engagement.
  • Convert unstructured meeting notes into clear data points that show project progress.
  • Audit shared document folders to ensure all records follow our naming and storage conventions.
  • Help map out internal workflows by recording who is responsible for specific tasks and deadlines.
  • Create simple, readable tables and charts that summarize weekly updates for our team reviews.
  • Identify and flag missing information or inconsistencies in the data provided by the client.
  • Assist in drafting weekly status reports by gathering and verifying project metrics.
  • Ensure that all written records of decisions are correctly archived for future reference.

What We Are Looking For

  • A high level of comfort with organizing information and working within spreadsheets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, especially when it comes to spotting small errors in text or figures.
  • The ability to write in plain, clear English without relying on corporate jargon.
  • A methodical approach to tasks and a preference for order and clarity.
  • Patience and persistence when dealing with incomplete or complex sets of information.
  • A habit of verifying your own work and asking questions when instructions are unclear.
  • Strong self-discipline to work effectively in a fully remote, independent environment.

Helpful Background

  • Basic familiarity with spreadsheet software like Google Sheets or Excel, including common formulas.
  • Prior experience from internships or university projects that involved heavy documentation or research.
  • A general interest in how financial institutions or large organizations function.
  • Experience using digital communication and project management tools in a professional or academic setting.
  • A background in a field that requires precise record-keeping, such as administration or data entry.

What We Offer

This position is fully remote, giving you the flexibility to manage your work environment while being part of a focused, professional team. We value a calm work culture where people are given the time and tools to do their jobs well without unnecessary meetings. The role is paid, and we provide a competitive salary that is attractive for an entry-level professional in the advisory sector. You will have the chance to learn our specific approach to management consulting, which favors practical results over theoretical models. We focus on building sustainable habits for our clients and our team alike.

About Olive Tree

Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems: they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company growth. We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own. The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
