Junior Production Planner
South African Bank Note Company (Pty) Ltd
Purpose
To assist and provide support with scheduling of required production and materials planning according to a pre-determined delivery schedule for all aspects of the production process in order to ensure on-time and in-full delivery to customers.
Main Responsibilities (not Limited To)
- Support Production Planners and production teams by maintaining accurate schedules, monitoring progress and resolving minor planning challenges.
- Accurately monitor Production progress to support the delivery of product on time and in-full to meet customer expectations and business requirements.
- Check material availability against plan schedules.
- Communicate shortages or delays to Procurement and escalate where necessary.
- Assist in sequencing jobs to minimise downtime and optimise machine utilisation.
- Engage with suppliers and coordinate accurate and timeous material deliveries.
- Assist in assessing and monitoring any potential risk and manage buffers to the production plan execution, in order to mitigate any delays to timely delivery.
- Support KANBAN management systems by issuing and monitoring material supply and availability to production areas to ensure that deliverables and milestones are achieved.
- Assist with monitoring the performance and development of the team members to ensure that the section is efficient and internal customers remain satisfied.
- Compile and generate data and reports to support business requirements for various strategic meetings and presentations.
- Maintain accurate data in ERP and MRP systems.
- Identify minor bottlenecks and suggest improvements in production planning.
- Participate in integrated planning meetings and contribute to problem solving.
- Perform reasonable value-add ad hoc duties or activities that are beyond normal scope of work, when requested.

The Preferred Candidate Is Likely To Have
- Diploma or B Degree in Industrial Engineering, Production management or Engineering
- Project management certification/qualification (desirable)
- 1-year experience in master scheduling within a production or manufacturing environment
Knowledge And Skills
- Basic knowledge of raw material and the Production Planning Process
- Basic knowledge of Project Management principles
- Basic understanding of ISO standards and processes
- Understanding of SABN performance metrics and standards
- Basic knowledge of problem-solving methodologies
- Knowledge of Bank Note Printing – desirable
- Basic understanding of ERP systems – desirable
