Website Development Internship
Olive Tree Consulting Group
Remote
We are looking for a Website Development Intern to support our digital initiatives as we collaborate with a South African financial services partner. This role is a full-time, remote position focused on building and maintaining the web-based tools that keep our projects organized. You will work to ensure that the digital spaces we create are simple, useful, and technically reliable for both our internal team and our clients.
About the role
In this role, you will bridge the gap between our advisory work and the technology we use to deliver it. Olive Tree focuses on making management work plainer and easier to handle, and your work on the web side will reflect that philosophy. Much of our current focus is assisting a financial institution in South Africa with their internal rhythms and decision-making records. You will help us develop the digital portals and sites that house these records, making sure the technical execution matches our commitment to clarity. Since we are a remote firm, you will coordinate with the team through written communication and video calls, learning how to build sites that serve a specific business purpose.
What you will do
- Build and update web pages to support our client engagements and internal needs.
- Write clean HTML and CSS to maintain the visual consistency of our digital tools.
- Help organize site architecture so that project notes and decision logs are easy for clients to navigate.
- Test websites across different browsers and devices to ensure a smooth experience for all users.
- Collaborate with our consultants to turn written requirements into functional web interfaces.
- Monitor site performance and fix technical issues as they arise.
- Manage site content updates, ensuring that text and documents are correctly formatted and accessible.
- Explore ways to simplify our current web workflows to make them more efficient.
What we are looking for
We need someone who values practicality and has a sharp eye for detail. You should be someone who enjoys the process of building things that work well and look clean without unnecessary complexity. Because we work remotely, you must be a disciplined individual who can manage your own time and communicate clearly in writing. We value curiosity and a willingness to learn how a professional advisory firm operates. You should be comfortable taking direction while also feeling confident enough to ask questions when a technical requirement is unclear. A calm approach to troubleshooting and a focus on getting the small things right are essential qualities for this internship.
Helpful background
- Basic proficiency in HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript.
- Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, Webflow, or similar tools.
- An understanding of user experience principles and what makes a website easy to use.
- Experience with personal web projects, university coursework, or a coding bootcamp.
- Basic knowledge of how to optimize images and web assets for better loading speeds.
- Good written English skills for clear internal documentation and site content.
- Previous experience working in a remote environment or using digital collaboration tools is a plus.
What we offer
This is a fully remote internship that allows you to work from your own environment while gaining experience in a professional consulting practice. You will be part of a small, focused team that values your contribution and offers direct feedback on your work. The position is paid, and the compensation is competitive for an internship in the current market. You will have the chance to see how a management advisory firm operates behind the scenes and how technical tools can solve real-world organizational problems. We prioritize a quiet, sustainable work rhythm that allows you to focus on your tasks without the distraction of unnecessary meetings.
About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems: they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company growth. We favor practical changes over large-scale programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own. The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
