Senior Structural Engineer - Pretoria

Our client, a leading engineering and project services organisation, is seeking an experienced Professional Structural Engineer to join their Pretoria team. This is a senior technical opportunity for an engineer with extensive structural and civil engineering experience across major commercial developments and complex infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will lead structural engineering projects from inception through completion, provide technical leadership to project teams, manage key stakeholders and contribute to business development and strategic project planning.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead structural engineering projects from inception through to completion.

• Prepare technical and commercial proposals, execution plans, fee proposals and cost estimates.

• Undertake feasibility studies, option analyses and technical due diligence.

• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and specifications.

• Manage tender documentation, technical scopes, bid evaluations and recommendations.

• Coordinate structural design resources to ensure quality and programme adherence.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, municipalities and government stakeholders.

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and quality oversight to junior engineers, technicians and draughting staff.

• Support business development, strategic planning and proposal preparation.

Key Skills

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Prokon and MS Office.

• Excellent structural design and engineering capabilities.

• Strong project management and technical leadership skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.

• Strong commercial awareness and proposal development skills.

• Ability to work effectively within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

• Commitment to maintaining high engineering and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSc or BEng Degree in Civil Engineering.

• Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.).

• Minimum 10 years' relevant experience, including at least 2 years post-registration.

Experience

• Extensive experience in the planning, design and implementation of structural and civil engineering projects.

• Proven experience across commercial developments, including office buildings, retail developments, hotels and healthcare facilities.

• Experience with bridges and water-retaining structures will be advantageous.

• Experience managing structural design resources and multidisciplinary project teams.

• Strong experience with technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications and tender documentation.

• Experience with feasibility studies, technical due diligence and procurement processes.
