Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Junior Operations Manager for its operations in the Agriculture division. The Junior Operations Manager will rotate between all Agri operations to gain knowledge and experience across multiple operations. This position reports to the Southern Operations Manager and holds the TASK Grade T12.The ideal candidate should have a BSc in Animal Science or a related qualification, along with at least three years of experience in poultry. A completed or in-progress MSc in Animal Science will be an advantage. A valid driver’s license as well as your own vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyse performance outputs and identify opportunities and lost efficiencies within departments.
• Drive operational cost saving initiatives and performance improvement projects on an ad hoc basis. Provide before/after data analytics to show impact.
• Adopt and embrace the culture of continuous improvement.
• Gain functional, operational knowledge throughout the business, to provide support to the various departmental heads.
• Conduct routine SOP audits and ensure that the documented SOP’s are up to date and adhered to.
• Ensure that all quality control, neighbour and external complaints are recorded, investigated and resolved.
• Interrogate operational planning schedules, and strive to developing better ways, by challenging the status quo with fresh insights.
• Assist on weekends / after hours and assume operational line functions when management is on leave to ensure operational sustainability, where required.
