Junior Web Developer
Olive Tree Consulting Group
Remote
We are hiring a Junior Web Developer to join our team at Olive Tree Consulting. This role focuses on supporting our advisory work by maintaining the digital systems our consultants and clients use daily. One of our current priorities involves supporting a partner in the financial sector to simplify their internal reporting rhythms through better web tools. This is a full-time, fully remote position designed for someone starting their career in web development.
About the Role
At Olive Tree, we believe management should be supported by the smallest possible written record. This role exists to help us build and maintain the web-based tools that store these records. You will work closely with our consultants to ensure the platforms we use for client projects are reliable and easy to use. Instead of building flashy marketing sites, your work will be about utility: making sure our partner firm in the financial space can access their project data and that our internal team has the digital infrastructure they need to work effectively. Because we are a remote firm, your work on our internal platforms is essential to keeping our team connected and informed.
What You Will Do
- Maintain and update existing web pages and internal portals to reflect new project requirements.
- Write clean, readable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build simple and functional user interfaces.
- Work with consultants to translate project needs into basic technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot bugs or performance issues on our internal documentation sites.
- Help organize digital records to ensure that project data is easily retrievable for our financial partner.
- Participate in regular check-ins to discuss progress and prioritize upcoming tasks.
- Test web tools across different browsers to ensure a consistent experience for all users.
- Document the technical steps you take so the rest of the team understands how our systems work.
What We Are Looking For
- A strong interest in building tools that solve practical problems rather than just looking good.
- A clear and direct communication style, both in your writing and your code comments.
- The ability to stay calm and methodical when a technical issue arises.
- High attention to detail, especially when it comes to the accuracy of information on a page.
- A willingness to learn how our advisory practice works so you can build better tools for it.
- The discipline to manage your own time while working in a fully remote environment.
- An understanding that the best solution is often the simplest one.
Helpful Background
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of front-end development, including HTML and CSS.
- A basic understanding of JavaScript and how to use it to create interactive elements.
- Exposure to version control systems like Git, even if only through personal or school projects.
- Interest in user experience and how people interact with documentation.
- Previous experience with static site generators or basic content management systems is useful.
- A collection of code samples or projects that demonstrate your ability to build functional web pages.
What We Offer
This is a full-time, permanent position that is fully remote, allowing you to work from wherever you are most productive. We provide an environment where your work is seen and used every day, rather than being lost in a large corporate queue. You will receive a competitive salary that is attractive for an entry-level role in this market. We value a quiet management pattern and avoid unnecessary meetings, giving you more time to focus on your development work. You will have the opportunity to learn how a specialized advisory firm operates while building your technical skills.
About Olive Tree Consulting
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems; they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company's growth.
We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own.
The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
