Senior Analytics Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to join their Data & Analytics team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data-driven professional who is passionate about transforming complex data into meaningful business insights through modern Business Intelligence, analytics, and reporting solutions. Working within the Microsoft Data Platform, you will play a key role in delivering trusted data assets, enterprise reporting, and analytical solutions that support informed business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and visualisations.
• Develop semantic models and reporting datasets to enable trusted self-service analytics.
• Build executive dashboards and KPI reporting solutions.
• Develop and maintain Power BI Paginated Reports.
• Optimise Power BI models, DAX calculations, and report performance.
• Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Define and maintain business KPIs and performance metrics.
• Perform trend analysis, forecasting, predictive analytics, and root cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain PySpark notebooks within Microsoft Fabric.
• Build scalable reporting datasets through data cleansing, transformation, and validation.
• Develop robust data models and optimise complex SQL queries.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and documentation standards are maintained.
• Mentor junior Analytics Engineers and BI Developers while promoting development best practices.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree, diploma, or relevant certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, OneLake, Lakehouse Architecture, and Delta Lake.
• Advanced SQL, Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), semantic modelling, and dashboard development skills.
• Strong experience with PySpark, Python, ETL/ELT, data modelling, and dimensional modelling.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and version control.
• Exposure to Microsoft AI, Copilot, Azure Machine Learning, DataOps, or Financial Services environments will be advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
