Role Description

This full-time, on-site Construction Manager role is based in Welkom and is responsible for overseeing civil engineering and construction projects from planning through completion. The Construction Manager will coordinate site activities, lead and supervise construction teams and subcontractors, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards. Daily tasks include monitoring project schedules and budgets, managing resources and materials, and resolving on-site issues to keep work progressing efficiently. The role involves collaborating with clients, engineers, and suppliers, preparing progress reports, and implementing project controls to ensure quality delivery. The Construction Manager will promote a culture of safety, integrity, and teamwork on all projects.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong Supervisory Skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractors effectively.
  • Proficiency in Budgeting and Project Control to plan, track, and report on project costs, schedules, and resource usage.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Construction and Construction Safety, including adherence to relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proven experience managing construction projects, ideally within civil engineering.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications and make sound on-site decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality, safety, and collaborative work.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office, scheduling software) is an advantage.
