We are urgently seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Construction Supervisor to join a major shutdown project at Sasol Secunda.

The successful candidate must have a dual electrical and instrumentation background, with the ability to supervise both electrical and instrumentation construction, installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities.

This position is particularly suited to a Qualified Electrician and Instrumentation Technician with strong supervisory experience in the petrochemical, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate electrical and instrumentation construction and maintenance activities during the shutdown.

- Lead and manage electrical and instrumentation teams, contractors, and subcontractors.

- Supervise electrical installations, maintenance, testing, fault-finding, and commissioning.

- Supervise instrumentation installation, calibration, testing, loop checking, commissioning, and maintenance.

- Ensure electrical and instrumentation work is completed according to approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and schedules.

- Monitor daily progress and ensure shutdown activities remain on schedule.

- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and other resources.

- Ensure compliance with Sasol site requirements, safety procedures, and applicable electrical and instrumentation standards.

- Conduct toolbox talks, inspections, and daily work coordination.

- Identify and resolve technical issues, delays, and site constraints.

- Liaise with the Project Manager, engineers, client representatives, and other disciplines.

- Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project.

- Compile and maintain daily progress reports and relevant project documentation.

Minimum Requirements

- Qualified Electrician / Electrical Trade Certificate.

- Instrumentation Technician qualification / trade qualification.

- Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of both electrical and instrumentation.

- Minimum 5–8 years' relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation construction, maintenance, or supervision.

- Proven supervisory experience in a petrochemical, oil & gas, heavy industrial, or similar environment.

- Previous petrochemical shutdown experience is highly advantageous.

- Previous Sasol experience will be advantageous.

- Strong knowledge of electrical installations, maintenance, testing, fault-finding, and commissioning.

- Strong knowledge of instrumentation installation, calibration, testing, loop checking, and commissioning.

- Good understanding of SHEQ requirements and safe working practices in a high-risk petrochemical environment.

- Strong leadership and team-management skills.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict shutdown deadlines.

- Computer literate.

- Valid driver's licence.

- Must be medically fit to work in a petrochemical environment.

- Valid medical fitness certificate – advantageous.

- Valid Sasol induction – advantageous.
