An Industrial Relations Officer is responsible for managing workplace relations between employers and employees, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and resolving disputes effectively. They handle collective bargaining, negotiate labor contracts, and implement policies to foster a productive work environment. Expertise in labor legislation, conflict resolution, and communication skills is essential for this role.

  • Represents the company at the CCMA and the MEIBC Centre for Dispute Resolution at conciliations and arbitrations in disputes concerning alleged unfair dismissals and unfair labour practices.
  • Trains management on the proper implementation of the disciplinary, grievance, poor performance and incapacity procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate the company Performance Management through Performance Appraisals.
  • Coordinate and implementation of the Employment Equity systems.
  • Investigates labour disputes upon request to ensure compliance with labour legislation.
  • Promotes use of fact-finding, mediation, conciliation, and advisory services to prevent or resolve labour disputes.
  • Submits monthly IR report to Management.
  • Acts as an advisor in communication structures (e.g. ERC).
  • Monitors and updates company procedures to ensure compliance with labour legislation.
  • Does ad hoc projects as and when required.
  • Responsible for recruitment and selection, advertising positions, short-listing, inviting candidates to attend interviews, conducting interviews.
  • Solve employee queries regarding, salaries, benefits, and other related information Investigating sick notes to ensure authenticity of the documents and managing absenteeism.
  • Perform any and all HR duties as required by the HR Departmental Head.

Post graduate in Labour Law

Other related qualification.

Handling grievances (formal and informal).Initiate and chair disciplinaries.

Manage EAP Programme

Manage Employment Equity Programme.

Manage Performance Management through Performance Appraisals system(sage 300)

Manage absenteeism through sage 300.

Attend to litigations at CCMA and other statutory councils.

Manage and conduct performance appraisals.

Certificate in Dispute Resolution and Labour Law Practice
