MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12. A relevant diploma or degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or Stock Management is advantageous.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant buying experience. Three to five (3–5) years’ experience in a buyer position will be advantageous.
- Previous procurement and stock-management experience, with a general understanding of procurement methodology, supply chain management and stock control.
- Civil construction industry and site knowledge is essential; road-building sector experience is advantageous.
- Computer literate, with working knowledge of BuiltSmart and Microsoft Excel.
- Good written and verbal communication, negotiation, interpersonal, analytical, numerical, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Commercially and financially astute, results-orientated and able to exercise independent decision-making and initiative.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, strong organisational skills, resilience and effective self-management.
- Professional, customer-focused and able to build supplier and internal stakeholder relationships and work effectively in a team.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, industry regulations, safety requirements and Company policies, practices, processes and systems.
- South African citizen with a valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and contactable references
JOB SPECIFICATION
SUPPLIER SOURCING, NEGOTIATION AND COST MANAGEMENT
• Liaise with existing suppliers and identify supply-chain opportunities and sustainable cost savings.
• Research and evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs without compromising operational requirements.
• Negotiate improved pricing and favourable terms of business with suppliers.
• Assess and evaluate supplier performance, conduct performance reviews and monitor compliance with agreed terms.
• Maintain a professional and consistent approach to supplier relationships.
• Explore alternative sources for goods and materials and evaluate existing and prospective suppliers.
• Monitor market trends, product availability and pricing developments.
PROCUREMENT COORDINATION AND ORDER MANAGEMENT
• Prepare and process purchase orders in line with approved requirements and procurement targets.
• Follow up and expedite deliveries to ensure that products and materials arrive on time.
• Direct procurement queries or requests to the appropriate person where required.
• Contact suppliers to resolve pricing, quality, delivery and invoice discrepancies or concerns.
• Complete purchasing transactions by issuing purchase orders, expediting deliveries and verifying transactions.
• Maintain and use relevant procurement records, including purchase orders, price lists, stock-on-hand reports and service-level agreements.
• Support continuity of supply and ensure that purchase orders are aligned with operational requirements.

• Comply with relevant legislation, Company health and safety standards, safe work procedures and ethical responsibilities.
• Monitor and report hazardous or unsafe situations in the workplace or on site.
