Brief description
The main purpose of this position is to provide systems application technical support to 1FinSurv in terms of systems availability and second-line support.
Detailed description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Execute periodic system maintenance in accordance with the set procedures to ensure the reliability and availability of systems.
Support the 1FinSurv applications by monitoring the underlying environments, such as databases and application servers, to ensure capacity management, systems availability and optimal performance.
Maintain the 1FinSurv applications by applying corrective measures, for example, patches, upgrades and bug fixes.
Provide second-line support by troubleshooting and investigating incidents reported by 1FinSurv users to ensure business continuity.
Review the application code to ensure control is maintained.
Conduct unit testing for the solution to ensure its quality.
Deploy application upgrades, enhancements and fixes in accordance with the set deployment procedures.
Monitor system and integration components to ensure the continuous flow of transactions.
Apply system and application security patches to prevent and resolve application vulnerabilities.
Participate in business continuity planning (BCP) and information technology service continuity management (ITSCM) exercises.
Adhere to change-control processes in the implementation of system changes.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
at least a National Diploma (NQF level 6) in information and communications technology (ICT) or an equivalent qualification in a related field; and
at least two to five years’ experience in an ICT applications support environment.
