The Role

Title: People and Talent Generalist

Team: People

Location: Cape Town, Onsite

As Midnite continues to grow in South Africa, our Cape Town office needs a People experience that feels as sharp, responsive, and high-trust as the product we’re building. This role sits at the heart of that. As our People and Talent Generalist, you’ll be the person who keeps the employee journey running smoothly behind the scenes and makes it feel seamless on the surface - from the first candidate conversation, to onboarding, payroll inputs, employee queries, ER support, policy guidance, and offboarding. You’ll combine operational precision with genuine care for people, helping managers make confident decisions, employees feel supported, and the People team build strong, compliant foundations for a growing office.

You will

  • Manage full employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding, contract changes, probation tracking, transfers, offboarding, and exit processes.
  • Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, and HR correspondence with accuracy and care.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential employee records in the HRIS and personnel files.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll inputs for starters, leavers, changes, and benefits in partnership with Payroll/Finance.
  • Administer employee benefits enrolment, changes, and queries.
  • Support performance review cycles, probation reviews, engagement initiatives, inductions, and internal communications.
  • Support employee relations cases, including grievances, misconduct, incapacity, and workplace disputes.
  • Coordinate disciplinary processes, prepare documentation, and assist with hearings in line with the LRA.
  • Guide managers and employees on labour law, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and workplace policy application, escalating complex matters to the People Partner.
  • Support statutory and regulatory reporting, including EE, COIDA, UIF, WSP, and ATR.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including posting vacancies, sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, supporting scorecards, managing offers, and maintaining recruitment trackers.
  • Own candidate communication and help deliver a timely, professional candidate experience at every stage.

The next Midniter

  • Has a degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Brings at least 5 years' experience in an HR generalist or HR coordination role.

  • Has solid working knowledge of South African labour law, including LRA, BCEA, and EEA.
  • Has demonstrable full-cycle recruitment experience, from requisition through to offer.
  • Understands payroll processes and how HR data feeds into payroll.
  • Has experience using an HRIS and applicant tracking system.
  • Is highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Handles confidential employee information with discretion and care.
  • Communicates clearly, builds trust quickly, and brings a collaborative, approachable style across all levels of the business.
  • Has a genuine interest in people, culture, and creating a positive employee experience.
