Your primary responsibility will be the accurate and compliant management of payroll for our diverse clientele. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all payroll processes are executed with precision and in full adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Your meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational abilities, and comprehensive knowledge of payroll procedures will be essential for this role. The confidentiality and security of employee data will be entrusted to you, and your dedication to providing exceptional customer service will be paramount.
- Payroll processing for a diverse range of clients including statutory submission.
- Ensure statutory compliance for client’s payroll related matters.
- Address SARS queries, correspondence, verifications, and audits
- Perform or assist in the registration and de-registration of payroll related registrations
- Assist clients in payroll related debt management interventions.
- Perform administrative duties and inhouse administrative functions as required from the time to time.
- Assist and perform other employment solution related services.
- Intermediate principles and rules of regulatory requirements with regards to Payroll, UIF, WCA and SARS
- Intermediate understanding of laws governing tasks in the payroll duties.
Position Supervisory Responsibilities
Type and scope of supervisory responsibility that is expected from this position.
- Trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving assistance for Payroll Team.
- Assist the Team Leader in overseeing the daily operations of Payroll Team.
Memberships or Accreditation
Memberships or accreditation required to perform this role:
- None
- Matric.
- A relevant 3 Year Diploma, or similar qualification from a recognised tertiary institution will be advantageous.
- Have gained at least 3 to 4 years’ relevant experience in a payroll environment within an audit / accounting environment
Continuous Professional Development
- Takes responsibility for ongoing on-the-job training and for pursuing part-time relevant academic qualifications.
General Knowledge
Sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations:
- Understand workings of SARS, UIF, WCA offices and requirements
- Basic principles and rules of regulatory requirements with regards to Payroll, UIF, WCA and SARS
- Basic understanding of laws governing tasks in the payroll duties.
Working Conditions

- This position is office based in order to provide the best learning environment.
- Travel might sometimes be required.

- Hybrid-setup for senior personnel who are domiciled outside of Paarl.
Payroll Services
- Accurately process payroll for clients in compliance with South African labour laws, including but not limited to.
- Processing of monthly, bi-weekly and weekly pay runs.
- Processing of bonuses, overtime, allowances and statutory deductions.
- Loading New employees.
- Processing terminations.
- Updating new bank details.
- Processing of leave transactions.
- ACB exports.
- Administer employee benefits and ensure they are accurately reflected in payroll, including pension funds and medical aid contributions.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized payroll records, ensuring proper documentation of all transactions, pay slips, and tax documents for both clients and employees.
- Generate and distribute accurate and timely payroll reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Safeguard the confidentiality and security of employee data, adhering to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and other relevant data protection regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries, resolving payroll-related issues, and offering expert guidance on payroll matters in accordance with South African practices.
- Reconcile payroll accounts, ensuring that financial records align with payroll transactions and that discrepancies are promptly resolved.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll records, ensuring all documentation is readily available and accurate.

Statutory Compliance
Manage the processing, submission and reporting of statutory benefits and tax returns, including -
- EMP201 submission.
- EMP501 submission.
- UIF submissions.
- CIODA.
- Attending to EMP501 reconciliations and IRP5 / IT3(a) certificates including gathering and compiling payroll schedules
- Ensure compliance with South African tax legislation, labor laws, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Stay updated on changes to tax and labor regulations in South Africa to ensure payroll practices remain compliant.

Payroll Process including benefit administration.
