Backend Developer (Node.js & Java) |Contract |Stellenbosch

We are looking for an experienced

Backend Developer to help build and enhance scalable, high-performance banking and payment platforms. If you're passionate about backend engineering, data-driven solutions, and modern technology, this is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, fast-paced fintech environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Strong expertise in Node.js and Java
• Experience with data engineering, ETL processes, and database optimization
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL
• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Key Responsibilities

• • Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and Java
  • Design and implement robust data engineering and ETL solutions
  • Build scalable, secure, and reliable systems aligned with banking standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services and APIs
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot and optimize application performance and scalability
