Job Position: Import Co-ordinator

Will handle freight movement for either international air and/or ocean import shipments in order to exceed customer service expectations while maintaining compliance with all Government and industry standards

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in air and/or ocean import operations
  • Demonstrated experience
  • Knowledge of Incoterms
  • Must be CargoWise operational certified after 6 months
  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience

Key Performance Areas:

  • Arrange collection and deliveries of freight for either/or both international air and/or ocean import moves
  • Tracking operational, routing and customer service responsibly for all files handled
  • Use preferred list of truckers and vendors to identify customer solutions-based on rates and service
  • Acting liaison between shippers, consignees and air and/or ocean carriers
  • Complete all necessary import documentation in order to remain compliant with regulations
  • Determine and recommend shipment costs and routing options to the customer for their selection
  • Complete quotations with oversight for customers, sales personnel and overseas stations/agents
  • Enter import shipment information into the system and update daily
  • Receiving, reviewing and processing documentation, following up with origin offices for clarifications and resolutions on paperwork and following all processes to ensure timeous clearance
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationships with both internal and external customers and vendors
  • Monitor shipment arrival notice
  • Enter import information into the system
  • Arrange clearing of shipments with Customs Broker
  • Coordinate and prepare all necessary documentation for release and final delivery of the shipment
  • Participate in client meetings alongside other members of the team virtually
  • Respond to any customer questions concerning import milestones and shipment status
  • Remain within company guidelines when addressing customer inquiries regarding shipments
  • Escalate uncommon, customer issues to the next level Manager for resolution and/or awareness
  • Brainstorming possible solutions for customer issues with the team and Departmental Manager
  • Process the billing and invoicing for the shipment
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned
