Junior Commercial Project Manager, Cape Town

The Appointment Firm

Do you enjoy digging into numbers until they actually make sense, then turning that insight into a decision someone can act on? This role puts you right at the side of a CEO and senior leadership team, working across finance, operations, sales, marketing and commercial partnerships. You will not be filing paperwork or managing a diary, you will be tracking real money, running real projects, and shaping real recommendations from your first few months. It is a foundational role built to grow into commercial management or leadership as you prove yourself.

  • Take ownership of selected cost and income items, tracking monthly performance against budget and prior periods
  • Spot errors, unnecessary costs, missed savings and potential losses, and review supplier invoices and agreements
  • Build and maintain Excel/Google Sheets reports, trackers and calculations
  • Prepare regular management reports, validate departmental data and flag gaps, anomalies and trends
  • Manage projects end to end: set actions, owners and deadlines, chase stakeholders, monitor risk and ensure proper handover
  • Prepare and verify reporting for commercial partners, track payments and outstanding items, and support partner meetings
  • Prepare analysis, presentations and business research for CEO meetings, and follow up meeting actions through to completion

Minimum Requirements

This is essential, do not apply without it:

  • A completed degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Science, Economics, Investment Management, Business Analytics or a closely related field
  • You must have 2 to 7 years of relevant work experience in commercial work, finance, business analysis, operations or project management
  • Strong Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP as standard tools of your trade)
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Willingness to work full-time from the Cape Town office, in-person, no exceptions

If you do not meet all five of the above, please do not apply, applications without them will not be considered.

Advantageous (not required, but a strong plus)

  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python or other data-analysis tools
  • Background in financial services, credit, collections or fintech
  • Experience building or working with budgets, forecasts or financial models
  • A track record of taking a project, business idea or initiative from concept through to completion
  • A gross monthly salary of R25,000 to R30,000, based on experience
  • Direct, regular exposure to the CEO and senior management, not layers removed from decision-making
  • Broad exposure across finance, operations, sales, marketing and commercial partnerships
  • Ownership of meaningful, real-world business projects from day one
  • A genuine path toward a future commercial management or leadership role as your experience grows
