Financial Manager / Accountant (Pretoria East) - Manufacturing

Our well established manufacturing client has an opporunity for an Afrikaans speaking Financial Manager / Accountant.

We specifically need someone who is commercially minded and able to look beyond simply processing the accounts. The person must be able to understand the businesses, interrogate the numbers, identify problems and provide management with accurate and meaningful financial information.

As the position includes responsibility for a team of approximately 8 people, the successful candidate must also be a strong people manager. They need to be confident in setting expectations, checking work, holding staff accountable, managing deadlines and ensuring that the finance department runs efficiently.

We are looking for someone who is mature, confident, organised and hands-on. This is not a purely supervisory role – the successful candidate must be willing and able to get involved in the detail when necessary.

A stable employment history is essential

The company operates multiple companies/entities, and need someone who is experienced, hands-on and capable of taking ownership of the full accounting and finance function with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate should have at least 15 years’ solid accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing, construction, building materials or similarly operational environment.

• Full accounting function across multiple companies/entities
• Management and oversight of a finance team of approximately 8 staff members across debtors and creditors
• Ensuring the debtors and creditors teams operate efficiently, accurately and within required deadlines
• Active management of debtors, collections, overdue accounts and credit control
• Oversight of creditors, supplier reconciliations and payment processes
• Monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Cash-flow management, forecasting and budgeting
• Intercompany accounts, transactions and reconciliations
• Stock accounting, controls and reconciliations
• Payroll processing and related statutory submissions
• VAT, PAYE and other SARS submissions and compliance
• General SARS queries and correspondence
• Balance sheet and bank reconciliations
• General ledger management
• Audit preparation and liaison with auditors
• Year-end processes and preparation of supporting schedules
• Maintaining and improving internal financial controls
• Identifying discrepancies, financial risks and areas requiring management attention

• A professional designation would be advantageous: AGA(SA), CA(SA)

• Strong proven experience in Accounting, minimum of 10 years management experience

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Pastel Evolution Essential

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and manage a team of 8 staff

• Fluent Afrikaans speaker (essential – must communicate effectively with operational and management teams)

Up to R840K per annum CTC
