A leadership opportunity is available in Richards Bay for an experienced nursing professional to take responsibility for the clinical and operational management of a Trauma Unit. The successful candidate will bring strong emergency nursing expertise, confident team leadership and a sound understanding of quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day clinical and operational functioning of the Trauma Unit.
  • Provide effective clinical leadership and ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Coordinate staffing, resource utilisation and daily patient care requirements.
  • Monitor nursing standards, clinical outcomes and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention, risk management and patient safety standards.
  • Lead, support and develop the nursing team to maintain high levels of competency and performance.
  • Monitor staff performance and address training and development needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and clinical governance activities.
  • Monitor departmental expenditure and effectively manage resources.
  • Interpret and utilise financial information to support sound operational decision-making.
  • Maintain compliance with SANC requirements and applicable healthcare legislation.
  • Promote positive relationships with patients, families, medical professionals and other stakeholder

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Nursing qualification, such as a Diploma in General Nursing or BCur Degree.
  • Post-basic qualification in Emergency Nursing Science.
  • Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur or General Nurse.
  • Postgraduate/Advanced Diploma in Health Services Management or Nursing Administration, BCur Nursing Management or BA Nursing Science (Health Services Management), or currently studying towards one of these qualifications.
  • Compliance with the SANC Code of Ethics and applicable healthcare legislation.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a private hospital environment.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience, preferably within a trauma or emergency care environment.
  • Sound financial knowledge and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Strong organisational, communication and people-management skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced trauma environment and manage competing priorities.
