An opportunity is available in Richards Bay for a Clinical Facilitator to support the development of nursing staff and students through structured clinical education, assessment and mentorship. The role will suit an experienced nursing educator who can effectively connect academic standards with clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate clinical and academic learning programmes for nursing staff and students.
  • Assess and monitor learner competency in accordance with required standards.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship and support to students and nursing staff within the clinical environment.
  • Identify learning and competency gaps and implement appropriate development interventions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate clinical training, orientation and educational programmes.
  • Conduct assessments and maintain accurate learner and training records.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of nursing education policies, procedures and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and academic stakeholders to promote effective learning outcomes.
  • Promote safe, evidence-based nursing practice and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Participate in quality improvement, research and educational initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current registration with SANC as a General Nurse and Midwife, with an additional qualification in Nursing Education; registration must be maintained.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
  • Post-basic qualification in Critical Care or Trauma and Emergency Nursing Science, with a minimum of 12 months’ experience following the qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within an academic environment.
  • Assessor Unit Standard successfully completed and registered with SANC, with training conducted through Heart Solutions in accordance with Netcare Education policy.
  • Moderator Unit Standard to be successfully completed and registered with SANC within the first year of employment.
  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Specialty or Education will be advantageous.
  • Commitment to commence further studies towards a Master’s Degree within 2 years of commencement and complete the qualification within the prescribed academic period.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills within a clinical or academic nursing environment.
  • Research literacy and an understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database searching, email, internet and digital learning platforms.
  • Proficient understanding and application of legislation and other external factors impacting general and nursing education.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of educational and business management principles.
  • Sound knowledge of the legislative and business environment relating to general and nursing education.
