Job Purpose

Drive and maintain a safe, secure and compliant workplace by leading Safety, Health, Environmental, Security and Risk Management activities. Ensure adherence to legal and company requirements, promote sustainability initiatives, manage incidents and workplace risks, oversee site security and facilities, and provide effective leadership to support operational excellence, employee wellbeing and business performance

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, Environmental (SHE) and related legislative requirements.
  • Lead SHE audits, inspections, risk assessments, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Manage SHE training, legal appointments, contractor compliance and induction programmes.
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance and certification of safety equipment, PPE and lifting equipment.
  • Develop, implement and maintain SHE policies, procedures and compliance systems.
  • Drive environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, waste management and resource efficiency programmes.
  • Manage site security, access control, CCTV systems, electric fences and security service providers.
  • Oversee facilities management, including building maintenance, site services, housekeeping and on-site clinic.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and losses, ensuring compliance with COIDA and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Monitor and report on SHE performance, compliance metrics and sustainability objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, control costs and identify operational efficiency opportunities.
  • Support food safety and quality objectives and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements

Skills And Competencies

  • Proven experience in implementing and managing SHE systems, audits, risk assessments and legal compliance programmes.
  • Experience in incident investigation, COIDA administration and contractor management.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental and Security legislation.
  • Experience managing budgets, service providers, facilities and people.
  • Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
  • MS Office (E-Mail, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Principles.
  • Sound knowledge of SA Labour acts and practices.
