The Business Development Consultant is responsible for developing and maintaining effective business relationships with brokers to attract, develop and retain profitable business.
- Effectively market/sell all iTOO products and services in collaboration with Underwriting Specialists to contribute to the growth and profitability of iTOO.
- Educate brokers on the iTOO product offering.
- Co-create and implementation of business strategy.
- Provide general support to the Product Champions and Underwriting teams.
- Enhance the iTOO brand through the continuous delivery of efficient and effective customer service.
- Analyze and obtain information from brokers that is required by Underwriters for risk selection, recommend creative alternatives in regard to rating plans, coverage and payment plans. Decline treaty exclusions and unsuitable risks.
- Accept binding instructions on quoted risks and negotiate deals within mandate for each product line where applicable.
- Promote all iTOO products to brokers.
- Contribute to effective marketing of iTOO products by answering questions, resolve problems on topics such as policy status, billing, etc, and explaining new or revised products and processes.
- Assist and make presentations to brokers as required.
- Follow up to ensure accurate and timely data capturing of quotes, new business renewals, endorsements, declarations and post loss adjustments.
- Meet goals for volume and value of quality new business quoted and written within company guidelines.
- Recommend or implement changes to improve productivity, profitability, growth and the quality of assigned book of business.
- Service, grow and maintain renewal policies.
- Review segment profit/growth results and trends to recommend and implement action plans to produce profitable underwriting results.
- Ensure that all premiums are received and up to date on all accounts in portfolio. In collaboration with credit control review and discuss all outstanding premiums and arrears with Brokers where problems may arise.
- Interact frequently with brokers according to agreed calling plans and build networks through attendance of industry functions.
- Provide necessary reporting on business development indicators relating to the team. Provide feedback on achievements, pending issues, problems and suggested recommendations.
- Ensure that customer service standards are maintained in accordance with service level agreements and performance contract to assist with technical advice and other assistance over and above the normal division duties
- Communicate effectively with external parties as well as within iTOO and Hollard.
- Engage in sales strategy sessions to develop and improve the business development team.
- Participate with senior management in initiatives around product development, processes, policy and strategy.
- Conduct market exercises pertaining to products, prices and competitors.
- Take responsibility for your own career growth and have regular discussions with relevant role players.
- Focusing on increasing sales and revenue through effective business development activities.
- Consistently meeting and exceeding established sales goals and targets.
