The Switchboard Operator ensures all incoming calls are directed to the correct extensions/Departments and assist Guests with all Outgoing Calls. To ensure Emergency procedures are adhered to and follow the instructions from the Evacuation Wardens. Handle all guests’ parcels and ensure they are charged correctly and dispatched.
Key Accountabilities
- All incoming calls answered within prescribed service standards
- Accurate routing of calls to correct departments or extensions
- Zero missed or incorrect wake-up calls
- Timely and accurate recording and delivery of guest messages
- Correct escalation of emergency and after-hours calls
- Up-to-date switchboard logs and communication records
Minimum Requirements
- Matric Required (National Senior Certificate NQF 4)
- 2 years hotel Front Office or switchboard experience
- Experience operating multi-line telephone systems
- Basic knowledge of hotel departments and services
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Satisfactory criminal record, subject to assessment of the nature, severity, relevance, and recency of any offence.
