- Cloud-native development and publishing experience on AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, API Gateway, IAM).
- Experience designing, building and operating CI/CD pipelines with Git and tools such as GitHub Actions,
- Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline; understanding of CI/CD concepts is required.
- Solid understanding of Git and source control workflows.
- Curiosity and drive: actively seeks out unknowns, experiments to learn, and enjoys solving complex technical problems.
- Systems thinking: understands how components interact, anticipates downstream impacts, and designs solutions with an end-to-end perspective.
- Strong problem-solving: breaks down ambiguous problems, proposes pragmatic solutions, and measures outcomes.
- Adaptability and collaboration: works well with changing priorities, values feedback, and partners effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Agile working: comfortable in iterative delivery, sprint cadences, and delivering incremental value with engineering discipline.
- Clear communication: explains technical choices to technical and non-technical stakeholders and documents decisions clearly.
- Continuous learning: keeps skills current and stays up to date with best practices.
- Strong ownership and leadership skills: drive technical topics, communicate effectively with stakeholders and deliver end-to-end solutions.
ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS
- Python (for scripting, tooling, automation or data-processing tasks).
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with Zero Trust principles and integrations (e.g., identity-aware access, least-privilege, secure service-to-service authentication and authorization).
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform to provision and manage AWS infrastructure.
- Docker fundamentals and container-based delivery experience (builds, images, registries, basic runtime patterns).
- Experience with ServiceNow development from a developer perspective (Service Catalog / catalogue builder workflows).
- Familiarity with Graph databases and query languages (e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune) and experience building graph/network views of relationships.
- Experience with event-streaming platforms and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and architectural patterns for high-throughput messaging.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration (EKS) for scalable deployments.
- Observability tooling experience (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, log aggregation) and secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault).
- Experience with Terragrunt, GitOps workflows, and policy-as-code approaches.
- Exposure to SAP integration patterns is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and drive technical topics across the full stack - from requirements, architecture and design through implementation, testing and production operations.
- Architect, implement and maintain backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and Node.js that expose RESTful and GraphQL APIs for internal and external consumers.
- Design and build responsive front-end applications and developer-facing interfaces using Angular and TypeScript.
- Create and maintain databases and relationships; ensure database solutions are scalable, performant and maintainable.
- Design and implement microservices and event-driven architectures; integrate with message and event systems to enable real-time and asynchronous workflows.
- Define and implement API contracts, versioning strategies and consumer-producer agreements (OpenAPI, GraphQL schema, contract testing).
- Build and operate CI/CD pipelines, containerised builds and deployment automation; ensure reliable release processes and rollback strategies.
- Instrument applications and infrastructure with observability (metrics, logs, traces); define and meet SLOs and participate in incident response/on-call rotations as required.
- Drive secure coding practices and perform threat modelling where required.
- Integrate systems with third-party APIs and internal services, ensuring robust error handling, retries and idempotency.
- Collaborate with initiative streams, stakeholders and technical peers to ensure the best technical solutions are implemented and to provide input on roadmap topics.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- A degree in IT or equivalent qualifications, or established certifications.
- Extensive hands-on experience (typically 6+ years) in full-stack development with demonstrable projects using Java (Spring Boot), Node.js, Angular, TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
- Proven track record delivering production-grade applications involving databases (MongoDB, SQL), API integrations, microservices and cloud deployments on AWS.
