Your Mission as a SHEQ Officer

As our SHEQ Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving our Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with legal, customer and Epiroc Group requirements while supporting our teams across South Africa to operate safely, sustainably and efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with systems, driving compliance, coordinating audits and collaborating with stakeholders to create meaningful improvements in SHEQ performance across the business.

What you'll do

  • Own, coordinate and maintain Epiroc South Africa's Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring all management system documentation, records, workflows and evidence are current, controlled and audit-ready in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Coordinate and administer all internal, external, customer and certification audits, including scheduling activities, managing audit documentation, tracking findings and ensuring timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Compile, analyse and report SHEQ performance data, supporting management reviews and providing meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making and continual improvement.
  • Support legal compliance and operational risk management processes by maintaining compliance registers, facilitating risk assessments, monitoring control measures and ensuring adherence to regulatory, customer and corporate requirements.
  • Manage key SHEQ administration processes, including contractor compliance, chemical management, waste management and the maintenance of critical SHEQ records and documentation.
  • Drive employee awareness and engagement by supporting SHEQ training initiatives, promoting a positive safety culture and providing guidance to stakeholders on SHEQ-related requirements and best practices.
  • Coordinate Epiroc Compliance System (ECS) activities and reporting requirements, ensuring accurate, complete and timely submissions to the Epiroc Group while maintaining high standards of governance and accountability.
  • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance and issuance for Head Office operations, ensuring employees have access to appropriate protective equipment and understand their responsibilities regarding SHEQ compliance.

What you'll bring

  • Qualification in Safety Management, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Risk Management or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Integrated Management Systems and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a SHEQ Officer in a similar setting or environment.
  • Experience coordinating audits, managing corrective actions and supporting compliance programmes.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and recurring compliance activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, gaps and improvement opportunities.
