Buyer & Stock Controller

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a reliable, organised and detail-oriented Buyer & Stock Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring that required items are purchased and available when needed.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, accountable and confident, with strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The successful candidate must be able to take ownership of the purchasing and stock control process, follow up on outstanding orders and identify and resolve discrepancies.

The successful candidate must have at least 5 years' relevant experience, their own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence.

Purchasing & Procurement

• Source and purchase goods, materials, equipment and services as required.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery times with suppliers.
• Create and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure purchases are properly authorised before placing orders.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
• Identify suitable alternative suppliers where required.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up on deliveries.
• Ensure orders are delivered correctly and within the required timeframe.
• Assist with supplier onboarding and maintain accurate supplier information.
• Ensure procurement documentation is complete and properly maintained.

Stock Control

• Maintain accurate stock records and ensure stock movements are correctly recorded.
• Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment requirements.
• Conduct regular stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
• Ensure stock received is accurately checked against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
• Record stock received, issued, transferred and returned.
• Monitor stock held across different locations.
• Investigate and resolve stock variances.
• Assist with maintaining minimum and maximum stock levels.
• Identify slow-moving, excess or obsolete stock.
• Maintain an organised and accurate stock control system.

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in Buying, Procurement, Stock Control or a similar role.
• Proven experience in purchasing and stock control.
• Experience working with an accounting, procurement or inventory management system.
• Sage Intacct experience will be highly advantageous.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Good understanding of purchasing and stock control processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport are essential.

R25,000 - R30,000 per month
