FINANCE MANAGER

ZaPOP is seeking a Finance Manager to join our finance team at our offices in Durbanville. We’re looking for someone who is confident taking ownership, asks the right questions and is naturally curious about the business behind the numbers.

You’ll oversee a diverse group of businesses with approximately 160 employees, multiple legal entities, intercompany transactions and a range of revenue models. We need someone who can take control, challenge the status quo, identify opportunities and risks, and translate financial information into meaningful strategic insights that help drive better business decisions and performance. You’ll partner closely with leadership to provide strategic insights, ensure strong financial governance, and drive operational excellence.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Own the full financial function across the group, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial planning.
• Lead, manage and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality financial outputs.
• Interpret and present monthly financial results, insights and recommendations to the Managing Director and leadership team.
• Proactively identify trends, risks and opportunities within the numbers, asking the right questions and challenging assumptions to drive improved business performance.
• Drive profitability through margin analysis, cost optimisation, pricing insights and identifying opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Partner with business leaders to drive financial accountability, ensuring teams understand their numbers and take ownership of performance against budgets and targets.
• Develop meaningful financial and business dashboards, KPIs and scenario models that give leadership a clear view of where the business is heading — not just where it has been.
• Oversee group consolidation, intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Review and optimise pricing models, costing structures and commission calculations across the group’s different revenue streams.
• Oversee treasury, cash flow management and financial risk to support the financial sustainability of the business.
• Maintain strong financial controls, segregation of duties and a clean, well-managed audit trail.
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation and data to improve financial reporting, efficiency and decision-making.
• Manage the annual audit process and work closely with external auditors and advisors.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements, including SARS, VAT, PAYE and applicable South African financial legislation.
• Provide oversight of debtors, creditors and payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and appropriate controls.

• CA(SA) or CIMA qualified; SAIPA considered with strong group and commercial experience
• 5 years post-qualification experience, including 2 years leading a finance team
• Sound understanding of South African financial regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience dealing with group structures and intercompany transactions
• Strong grasp of IFRS/GAAP principles
• Knowledge of tax and VAT legislation is advantageous
• Advanced Excel capability and overall strong systems skills
• Detail-focused, proactive and solutions-oriented
• Track record of designing and enforcing financial controls in a sales-driven commercial environment
