The Junior Cost Accountant will support the finance team with cost analysis, budgeting, inventory control, financial reporting, and monitoring of production and operational costs. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring accurate financial information and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
Assist with the preparation and analysis of cost reports.
Monitor and analyse production, operational and overhead costs.
Assist with monthly management accounts and cost accounting reports.
Perform reconciliations of inventory, stock movements and cost accounts.
Assist with stock counts and investigate stock variances.
Capture and maintain accurate financial and costing information.
Analyse actual costs against budgets, standards and forecasts.
Investigate cost variances and report significant discrepancies.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Maintain accurate costing schedules and supporting documentation.
Assist with the calculation and review of product/job costs where applicable.
Support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
Work closely with procurement, production, operations and finance teams.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures and internal controls.
Provide general financial and administrative support to the finance department
Grade 12 / Matric.
BCom Accounting, BCom Cost and Management Accounting, or equivalent qualification.
0–2 years' relevant experience in cost accounting, management accounting or finance.
Strong Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables and data analysis.
Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
Experience with an ERP/accounting system will be advantageous.
Good numerical and analytical ability.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
