Our client is a specialist family law practice focusing exclusively on divorce and related family-law matters. We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Litigation Secretary to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to an attorney.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' relevant litigation experience, specifically within Family Law. Candidates whose experience is primarily in RAF, conveyancing or other non-litigation areas will not be suitable for this position.

  • Provide full secretarial and administrative support to a family-law attorney.

  • Manage a busy litigation diary and ensure all deadlines and appointments are diarised.

  • Draft, format and prepare legal correspondence and documentation.

  • Prepare and attend to court pleadings and litigation-related documents.

  • Prepare and issue notices and other legal documents as instructed.

  • Liaise with clients, advocates, attorneys, sheriffs, courts and other legal professionals.

  • Open, maintain and manage client files.

  • Ensure that all correspondence and documentation is properly filed and maintained.

  • Arrange consultations, meetings and court appearances.

  • Follow up on outstanding documentation and information from clients.

  • Assist with preparation for court matters and hearings.

  • Monitor case progress and ensure important dates and deadlines are brought to the attorney's attention.

  • Prepare invoices, assist with billing and follow up on outstanding accounts where required.

  • Handle confidential and sensitive family-law information with the highest level of discretion.

  • Provide general administrative and secretarial support to ensure the efficient running of the practice.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Litigation Secretary.

  • Minimum 5 years' Family Law experience is essential.

  • Proven experience working directly with a litigation attorney.

  • Strong knowledge of South African legal and court procedures.

  • Excellent typing and document-formatting skills.

  • Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Excellent organisational and diary-management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters and strict deadlines.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Excellent client-service skills.

  • Strong confidentiality and professionalism.

Salary between R26 000 and R28 000
