Analyst / Project Associate
Ramp Economics
Ramp Economics is looking for a problem-solver.
Ramp Economics is a South African economics and business advisory firm. We help clients make decisions where the answer is not obvious: understanding markets and industries, evaluating investments and development opportunities, building models, assessing socio-economic impacts, designing strategies and frameworks, and turning complex evidence into practical decisions.
We are growing our team, but we are deliberately not prescribing the role too tightly before we know who is out there.
We need capable people who can contribute across some combination of:
- THINK — Research, investigate and interrogate evidence. Work with data. Structure unfamiliar problems. Develop bespoke, statistical and economic models. Test assumptions and find the insight that matters.
- CREATE — Write and edit reports. Build models, tools and frameworks. Develop presentations and visual outputs. Turn rough thinking into clear, useful products. Use technology creatively.
- DELIVER — Manage projects, tasks, people and deadlines. Coordinate inputs. Engage clients and stakeholders. Monitor progress and maintain quality.
- GROW — Scout opportunities. Support tenders and proposals. Build relationships and networks. Develop content, website and social media activity, and help create new products and client opportunities.
- RUN — Help keep the business organised. Support finance, administration, calendars, information management, internal systems and processes.
You do not need to do all five.
You may be at the beginning of your career, or you may already have substantial experience. You might be an economist, researcher, analyst, modeller, project manager, writer, designer, marketer, technologist, operations person or an unusually capable generalist. A degree in economics is not a prerequisite.
What matters most to us is intelligence, resourcefulness, initiative, diligence, curiosity, sound judgement, reliability and ownership of your work.
We are not looking for someone who waits to be fed instructions. We need people who notice issues, ask useful questions, investigate unfamiliar problems and help move them toward solutions.
Technology and AI
AI and digital tools are becoming fundamental to modern research, analysis and knowledge work. We are particularly interested in people with an aptitude for technology who can help us use these tools more intelligently: working more efficiently, interrogating evidence more deeply, surfacing better insight, automating repetitive processes, building useful tools and developing new products for clients.
Capabilities such as prompt and context engineering, AI-assisted research and analysis, workflow design, scripting, automation, rapid prototyping and digital product development are all of interest.
Practical details
The experience level is flexible. Hybrid / remote working is realistic, with the exact arrangement depending on the person and role. The initial appointment will be on a contract basis, with potential for full-time employment. Remuneration will depend on experience, demonstrated capability and the level of responsibility you can take on. There is no fixed start date.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and remain open until 30 November 2026, unless an appointment is made earlier.
