The Role

The Trainee Coded Welder & Mechanical Fitter will support the fabrication, assembly and servicing of the company's products under the guidance of experienced team members. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and gain hands-on experience in welding, mechanical fitting and manufacturing operations, while learning and applying industry best practices to deliver high-quality products safely, accurately and on time.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing your skills in the assembly, fit-up and welding of frames, tanks, pressure vessels and other assemblies, working from drawings, assembly instructions and welding codes while maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Learning to manufacture components using hand tools and workshop machinery in accordance with technical drawings, with a strong focus on quality and safe working practices.
• Assisting with the assembly of machines and equipment from drawings, schematics and assembly instructions, including sub-assembly work, lifting operations using forklifts and cranes, system alignment and equipment set-up.
• Gaining experience in pipe bending and fitting for gas, water and refrigeration systems, as well as pressure testing, oxygen cleaning, insulation fitting and the application of corrosion prevention systems.
• Completing and signing controlled company documentation accurately and in line with company procedures.
• Working towards achieving production targets and project deadlines by planning your workload effectively and collaborating with colleagues across the workshop.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment, ensuring tools, equipment and workshop areas are kept in good order.
• Demonstrating our company values by doing the right thing, treating others with respect and building positive working relationships based on trust and fairness.
• Participating in training and development activities to build your technical knowledge, practical skills and understanding of industry best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• Completed a recognised apprenticeship or training programme in a relevant technical discipline to a minimum of NFQ Level 4, or have equivalent hands-on experience gained in a similar role.
• A strong interest in developing skills across a range of welding and soldering techniques, including stainless steel TIG welding, stick welding, and the soldering of stainless steel and copper alloys.
• A keen interest in engineering and a willingness to learn, with a commitment to producing work to a high standard.
• Eager to develop knowledge of diving equipment and gain an understanding of life support systems and their maintenance requirements.
• Receptive to feedback and willing to learn from experienced colleagues and mentors.
• A proactive approach to learning, with a positive attitude towards personal and professional development.
• An interest in Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work safely and efficiently.
