We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Tax and Accounting Manager position in the Finance Department. The position will report to the Finance Manager and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel.
The primary focus of this position is to lead and manage the tax and accounting functions by ensuring accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, while maintaining strong relations with SARS to resolve tax-related matters. Provide guidance on tax and accounting issues, focusing on internal controls and processes to ensure alignment with legislative requirements and accounting standards, strategic planning that supports the business on tax and accounting matters.

Detailed Description / Inputs
Accounting
- Oversee the recording, tracking and reporting of financial information.
- Manage and oversee the month-end and year-end accounting processes to ensure accurate and on time reporting.
- Assist with the review of reconciliations and journals.
- Monitor and analyse accounting records and prepare annual financial statements including tax computations.
- Collaborate with external auditors, provide information required and respond to queries raised. Follow up on audit findings to ensure compliance.
- Assist with the development of cash forecasting methods and reports to business and other stakeholders.
- Develop, implement and enforce controls, policies and procedures to ensure accurate records and efficiency within department.
- Implement latest developments in accounting standards IFRS requirements.
Tax
- Review tax returns and relevant inputs and ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns to SARS.
- Ensure tax compliance, liaise with SARS on any tax noncompliance and manage the resolution of such compliance issues. Resolve queries raised by SARS either through SARS e-filing or other correspondence.
- Ensure the accurate and timeous resolution of any tax audits and collaborate with business partners to ensure conclusion of audits.
- Manage all tax records, SARS correspondence, and resolutions on the shared drive in compliance with legal and internal document management control requirements.
- Oversee and review the correct application of the VAT Act across relevant functions, addressing any inconsistencies with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Timeously forecast and report cash tax to the project and central tax teams.
- Ensure the timeous payment for all tax due by the business.
- Advise the business of SARS and corporate tax.
- Support the business on indirect tax (PAYE, Customs) matters.
- Maintain the tax asset register and manage tax allowances and collaborate with external consultants to identify additional allowances applicable to the business.
- Liaise with tax consultants on all tax related matters.
- Evaluate and report on transfer pricing and permanent establishment (PE) risks to the tax team and the business.
- Maintain positive relations with tax consultants, SARS and any other stakeholders.
Cross Functional Support
- Provide accounting and tax insights to support informed business decisions.
- Guide accounts receivables, treasury and accounts payable, project controlling and business controlling teams on accounting and tax related matters.
Internal Financial Controls and Efficiencies
- Serve as the gatekeeper for financial controls and structures to ensure compliance and enhance efficiency.
- Ensure that standardised processes are documented and adhered to.
People Management
- Prioritise resources, facilitate alignment of the team, and set and cascade KPA’s.
- Drive appropriate behaviour in line with company values through inspiring commitment, encouraging mutual support, and enabling development opportunities.
- Champion and drive a performance culture in line with the vision, mission and strategic objectives of the organisation.
