Supply Chain Coordinator - Logistics, Forecasting & Freight

SA Konexion SA (Pty) Ltd

Location: Remote (UK Hours, with early-morning flexibility for Asia-based supplier contact)

Employer: SA Konexion (SA) (Pty) Ltd, on behalf of our UK client

Contract: Full-time

Reports to: Head of Production & Operations

Salary: Based on experience

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing consumer health and wellness brand selling across the UK, EU and US. Products are manufactured in Asia and distributed through national retailers, e-commerce marketplaces and direct-to-consumer channels. A large part of the range is classified as dangerous goods, and freight moves globally by air, ocean and road. The operations team is small, fast-moving and hands-on there is no layer of middle management to hide behind, and you will own your workload end to end, speaking directly with suppliers, forwarders and internal stakeholders every day.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Production & Operations, you will own logistics execution, dangerous goods compliance, supplier pickup coordination, and forecasting and planning data across a product range that includes lithium-ion battery products and hazardous liquids. Comfort using AI to supercharge productivity in this role is essential to success.

Key Responsibilities

Freight and Logistics Execution

  • Request, compare and log freight quotes across air, ocean and road; raise bookings and confirm pickup-ready dates
  • Prepare and check the full shipping document pack (commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading/air waybill, certificates, HS codes, DG documentation) against the PO and destination import requirements
  • Track shipments daily, chase forwarders for milestones, and flag delays or customs holds as soon as they appear

Dangerous Goods

  • Identify regulated shipments and the applicable mode (IATA DGR, IMDG, ADR, 49 CFR)
  • Maintain and version-control the DG document library (SDS, UN38.3 summaries, DG transport reports) and check expiry against every booking
  • Prepare and check dangerous goods declarations, packing instructions, marks and labels for sign-off

Supplier Coordination

  • Act as the day-to-day pickup contact for manufacturing partners in Asia
  • Confirm pickup-ready dates against the PO, chase slippage, and escalate movements immediately

Forecasting and Planning

  • Build and maintain rolling demand and supply forecasts in Google Sheets, covering inventory cover, reorder points, lead times, MOQs and open PO pipelines
  • Stress-test production plans against factory shutdowns, port cut-offs and transit variability

Freight Invoice Validation and Cost Control

  • Audit freight and customs invoices line by line against quotes; query discrepancies and pursue disputes through to credit note
  • Maintain a live rate card and report on cost per kg, per CBM and per unit landed

Essential Experience and Skills

  • 3+ years in international logistics, freight forwarding, 3PL operations or in-house supply chain
  • Strong working knowledge of current AI tools and experience using them to build workflows and solve problems
  • FMCG or consumer goods background - understands SKU proliferation, promotional volume spikes and retailer compliance
  • Hands-on experience with import/export documentation across air and ocean freight, and fluency in Incoterms 2020
  • Practical dangerous goods exposure - lithium batteries, flammable liquids or environmentally hazardous substances
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, QUERY, ARRAYFORMULA, IMPORTRANGE) - non-negotiable
  • Numerate and sceptical, comfortable challenging a forwarder on an overcharge
  • Excellent written English - most of this role is written communication across time zones
  • Reliable home working setup: stable high-speed internet, backup power/connectivity, quiet space for calls

Desirable

  • Claude/ChatGPT knowledge
  • IATA DGR certification (Category 6) or equivalent DG training
  • ERP experience (Fulfil, NetSuite, SAP, Odoo, Cin7 or similar)
  • Exposure to US retail supply chain compliance (major retailer routing portals, EDI, ASN, labelling)
  • Google Apps Script, Power Query or SQL
  • Customs classification experience (HS/HTS codes, duty rates, country of origin)
  • Experience working directly with Chinese manufacturers

What We're Looking For in a Person

  • You chase without being told to chase
  • You escalate early, with a recommendation attached
  • You are obsessive about document accuracy
  • You are comfortable being the one who says "that invoice is wrong" or "that plan doesn't work"
  • You work independently across time zones without needing daily management
