PRODUCTION MANAGER – EXTRACTION PLANT
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead production operations within a continuous-process Manufacturing environment ideally within a Soya Solvent Extraction or Edible Oil plant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective production while driving plant performance, quality, yield, reliability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage daily production activities and plant operations
Drive production targets, efficiency, plant utilisation and yield
Manage production quality and ensure compliance with required standards
Lead and develop production teams
Drive plant reliability, maintenance coordination and asset performance
Manage production costs, waste and resource utilisation
Ensure strong SHERQ, food safety and process safety compliance
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
Monitor performance through production KPIs and take corrective action
Manage operational risks and support effective problem-solving/RCA
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor's Degree (NQF 7) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related technical field
Minimum 5 years' experience in continuous process manufacturing, process plant operations or a similar production environment
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Production Management, Production Superintendent, Plant Management, Operations Management or similar supervisory/leadership role
Experience managing production within a manufacturing or process plant environment
Strong knowledge of plant operations, production processes and continuous manufacturing
Industry Experience
Soya / soybean processing
Soya solvent extraction
Solvent extraction
Edible oil manufacturing
Vegetable oil processing
Oilseed processing
Extraction plants
Candidates with experience in closely related continuous-process industries may also be considered, including:
Chemical processing
Agro-processing
Food processing
Other hazardous or highly regulated process manufacturing environments
Key Technical Exposure
Solvent extraction processes
Process Safety Management (PSM)
Production planning and scheduling
Preventative and predictive maintenance
Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Budget and cost control
HIRA / Risk Assessment

Salary: Open to discussion – competitive market-related rates
