Role Description: This is a contract, on-site role based in Krugersdorp for a Third Party Claims Manager and Litigator. The role involves managing and coordinating third party claims arising from road construction and maintenace activities, including investigating incidents, gathering evidence, and assessing liability and exposure. The individual will liaise with insurers, legal representatives, and internal project teams, ensuring timely and accurate submission of claims documentation and responses. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing insurance policies, drafting correspondence and legal documents, preparing for negotiations or litigation, and maintaining detailed records of claim status and outcomes. The role also requires monitoring claim trends, advising management on risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and insurance requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong claims handling and claims management skills, with experience managing third party claims from initiation to resolution.
• Solid knowledge of insurance and insurance claims processes, preferably in the construction or infrastructure sector.
• Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret contracts, policies, and legal documents, and assess liability and financial impact.
• Proven experience in litigation or legal support related to claims, including drafting legal correspondence and working with attorneys or external counsel.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with insurers, legal stakeholders, and internal teams.
• High level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple claims and deadlines simultaneously.
• Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and construction industry practices is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently on-site in Krugersdorp, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.

We rarely receive claims against us, so the person would only need to come to our offices twice a week and then, after that, only when needed or when a claim arises. However, they would need to be reachable Monday to Friday and on weekends only when needed. In other words, they would work from home when they are not at the office. The ideal person would have insurance or legal experience and should be able to represent us should litigation arise.
