JPC specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of process machinery for manufacturing plants, including the seed and feed processing industries.

We are seeking two Mechanical Design Draughtspersons with relevant mechanical and structural experience to join our drawing office. Successful candidates will work on existing machinery designs and develop new machine designs, with technical guidance from the drawing office.

These practical roles combine accurate design and detailing, workshop coordination and site measurements to support the manufacture and installation of process equipment.

Key responsibilities

Create and modify 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
Develop new machine designs and adapt existing machinery designs to meet project requirements, under drawing-office guidance and review.
Prepare general arrangement, fabrication, assembly and installation drawings for process machinery and associated steelwork.
Include accurate dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, welding details and assembly requirements in drawing packages.
Prepare bills of materials, parts lists and cutting lists to support procurement and fabrication.
Manage drawing files and revisions using Autodesk Vault, maintaining accurate and traceable documentation.
Visit client sites to take measurements, verify existing conditions and confirm equipment interfaces and installation clearances.
Work closely with the drawing office, workshop and project teams to resolve technical queries and support practical manufacture and installation.
Check drawings for accuracy and completeness and submit them for technical review and approval before release.
Incorporate approved changes and maintain updated drawings, including as-built records where required.
Manage assigned deadlines and communicate progress, outstanding information and technical concerns promptly.

Minimum requirements

Minimum N4 qualification.
At least two years’ relevant mechanical draughting or design experience.
Relevant mechanical and structural experience within an engineering, manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and working knowledge of Autodesk Vault.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, sketches and site measurements.
Practical understanding of fabrication processes, sheet metal, welded structures and mechanical assemblies.
Sound knowledge of drawing conventions, dimensioning, tolerances and revision control.
Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow technical instructions, incorporate feedback and work effectively within a team.
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines while maintaining quality.

Working arrangements

The positions are based at our workshop in Krugersdorp, with travel to client sites for measurements when required. Overtime and weekend work are required when necessary to meet project deadlines.

Advantageous experience. Experience in seed and feed processing, bulk material handling, or equipment such as hoppers, chutes, bins and associated support structures would be beneficial.
