Senior Commercial Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Specialist to provide commercial and contract management expertise within a capital project environment on temporary basis. The successful candidate will support project strategy development, contracting and contract management while working closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and support commercial and contracting strategies for capital projects.
• Provide commercial input throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and strategy development through to project execution.
• Manage and administer project contracts in accordance with approved commercial strategies and contractual requirements.
• Support the preparation, review and implementation of contracting documentation and commercial agreements.
• Monitor contractual performance and ensure compliance with agreed contractual terms and conditions.
• Provide commercial guidance and support to Project Managers, Project Controls, Planners and other multidisciplinary project team members.
• Identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risks within capital projects.
• Support the management of contractual changes, variations, claims and other commercial matters.
• Review and interpret contract conditions, including NEC PSC, NEC ECC, FIDIC and bespoke contracts.
• Provide commercial advice during project execution and assist with resolving contractual and commercial issues.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on commercial, contracting and project-related matters.
• Maintain accurate commercial and contractual records and ensure appropriate contract documentation is available throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to effective project governance by ensuring commercial activities align with approved project strategies and requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• University Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Engineering, Law or Quantity Surveying
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience
• Sound understanding and practical knowledge of the Capital Project Environment
• Previous experience in Project Strategy Development
• Proven experience in Contracting and Contract Management
• Sound and workable knowledge of a multidisciplinary project service environment
• Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Project Controls, Planners and other project disciplines
• Working knowledge of mainstream contract forms, including:
  • NEC Professional Services Contract (PSC)
  • NEC Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)
  • FIDIC
  • Bespoke contracts and other project-execution-related contract conditions
