Barista

We're hiring baristas for our events. The coffee is only half the job.

Thingking Coffee Club is a new Cape Town coffee brand. Before we open permanent spots, we're taking it on the road. These aren't coffee stands in a corner. They're built installations and pop-ups at launches and brand activations across the city, and we need people behind the cart.

This is a part-time, event-based role. Events run roughly once a month, mostly on weekends and some evenings, and we share dates well in advance. Our team handles setup, so you're there for the part that matters: the coffee and the people.

You'd be part of our founding crew. When we open permanent spots, you're first in line.

Barista experience is a bonus, not a requirement. We train everyone properly before their first event. What you do need is experience in hospitality and a real love for coffee. You know what good service feels like from the other side of the counter, and you care about what's in the cup.

→ Making coffee fast and right from a fixed menu, under event pressure, without losing your cool.

→ Talking to everyone who walks up, from first-timers to guests to the people running the event.

→ Signing people up to the club. Joining is free. Your job is making them want to.

You'll probably fit if:

→ You've worked in hospitality: a café, restaurant, bar, hotel or events.

→ You love coffee and have opinions about it.

→ Sales or promo experience would be a real bonus.

→ You're the one your friends ask where to go.

→ You're flexible and reliable, because events don't move for anyone.

→ Proper barista training.

→ Your full barista kit and outfit.

→ Paid per shift, competitive rates, discussed at interview.

→ Your coffee is on us.

→ A spot on the founding crew.

Got an eye? We pay for it.

If you can shoot, there's extra paid work capturing the cart at our events for our socials. It's not required for the role, but it's a real advantage.

Part-time, event-based shifts across Cape Town, roughly once a month. First event in October 2026.
