Electrical Engineer/Technologist - Building Services - Pretoria

Join a well-established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm in Pretoria as an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineering Technologist.

We are seeking an experienced and professionally registered electrical engineering professional with strong technical expertise in the design and delivery of electrical building services. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary projects across various building sectors.

• Design electrical building services systems for commercial, residential, institutional, industrial and other building-related developments.
• Prepare electrical layouts, calculations, technical specifications, schedules and detailed design documentation.
• Undertake the design of low-voltage distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, power, earthing, lightning protection and related electrical systems.
• Complete lighting simulations and technical assessments using relevant design software.
• Develop and review electrical models and drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Undertake power-system modelling, analysis and technical studies where required.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant SANS standards, municipal requirements, client specifications and industry best practices.
• Prepare tender documentation, bills of quantities, technical reports and cost estimates.
• Evaluate tenders and provide technical recommendations to clients.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical and civil engineering disciplines.
• Attend client meetings, design coordination meetings, site inspections and project progress meetings.
• Conduct construction monitoring, quality inspections and technical assessments during project implementation.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, equipment specifications and material samples.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, snagging and project close-out activities.
• Manage assigned projects, deliverables, programmes and budgets in accordance with client requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians where required.

• Bachelor’s degree, BTech or BEngTech qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Professionally registered with ECSA as a PrEng or PrTech Eng.
• Minimum of eight years’ electrical design experience within the building services environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical building services systems and applicable South African regulations, codes, and standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Relux, ETAB and DIgSILENT.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment would be advantageous.
• Technical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication, coordination and report-writing skills.
