Job Purpose

The Finance Assistant will provide financial and administrative support to the finance and audit teams, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can efficiently manage financial data and support the delivery of high-quality audit and accounting services to clients.

Job Description

  • Accurately process, record, and maintain financial transactions in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Support the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable, activities, ensuring timely processing and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Prepare and process invoices, payment schedules, and financial reconciliations.
  • Perform bank, debtor, and creditor reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Provide audit support by preparing, organizing, and maintaining audit files, working papers, and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to obtain outstanding financial information and resolve finance-related queries.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, filing systems, and documentation in both electronic and physical formats.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns and other statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance and Audit teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance financial processes and administrative efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • BCom Degree or Finance/Accounting-related qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or audit support role.
  • Experience in an audit or accounting firm will be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong numerical, organisational, and attention-to-detail skills.
