Digital Content Coordinator
Stormers Rugby
Join the team behind the team.
At the DHL Stormers, the rugby happens on the field. Our job is everything around it: the stories, the moments and the conversations that make being a DHL Stormers fan feel like being part of something bigger.
That is what we are building, and we are looking for a Digital Content Coordinator to help us bring it to life, every day, across every channel.
About the club
We are Cape Town's premium rugby club and one of the biggest brands in the Vodacom URC. Record crowds fill DHL Stadium, our support is loyal and diverse, and our rugby is world-class.
Under one brand we field three teams, from the senior DHL Stormers side to our Carling Currie Cup and junior professional sides. But we are more than a rugby team. We are a lifestyle, entertainment and sports brand, and whether you are on the field, in the stands or behind the scenes, the belief is the same. We are in it together.
Why this role, why now
Stormers Rugby is in a moment of real momentum. A refreshed brand, huge energy on matchday at DHL Stadium, and an audience growing both at home and around the world. Now we want to turn that excitement into a thriving, year-round digital community, one that feels closer to the team, backs our partners, and drives ticketing, membership and merchandise.
This role is how we make “in it together” real for our fans online, every single day. So, we are bringing it in-house, for someone organised, quick and genuinely plugged into how fans talk, watch and share.
Where you’ll sit
You will be part of the Commercial team, working hand in hand with our content production crew (a designer, videographer, editor and photographer) and closely with our PR and Communications Manager. You will report to the Senior Marketing Manager. This is an in-office role based in Cape Town, with regular matchday and weekend commitments through the season, because our community does not clock off at five.
What you’ll be doing
You are the everyday voice of the club online, and the engine that keeps our content moving. One day you are planning the week ahead, the next you are live at a shoot, replying to fans in the comments, or getting sponsor content out on time and on brand.
- Work with the PR and Communications Manager and Senior Marketing Manager to plan content, then own the roll-out: the right content, on the right channel, at the right time.
- Keep comms joined up across every channel, and take the lead on the systems and schedules that get work over the line and keep our fans up to date.
- Take on the voice of the DHL Stormers online, leading the banter and giving fans a reason to stick around.
- Look after the people who reach out to us across our channels. Keep the inbox up to date, and make sure every supporter feels heard and seen.
- Help plan and attend shoots across our professional teams, working with players and coaches to bring the club closer to the fanbase.
- Support matchday and event marketing, capturing and sharing the moments that only happen live.
- Work with sponsors and stakeholders to deliver their digital rights on time and on brand.
- Report across our channels: track growth and engagement, know what is working and what isn't, and turn those insights into a clear steer for what we do next.
- You will work across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X, (Other channels? You decide) our website and email, putting effort where content performs best.
Most importantly, you will keep our fans close to the club, all season long.
We are in it together
We are looking for a doer. Organised enough to keep a busy content calendar on track, and confident enough to take an idea and run with it. You will sit in team meetings, spot opportunities and get things moving, without waiting for every detail to be spelled out.
You are the kind of person who is already terminally online, in the best way. You know the trend before it peaks, you can feel the room in the comments, and you ask, “How do we make that feel like the DHL Stormers?”
Our ambition is not to keep up with other teams. It is to raise the bar for what our fans expect from their rugby club.
What we're looking for
You have probably got around two to three years in social media, community or digital content, ideally in sport, entertainment or agency. But we care more about how you think, write and show up online than the number on your CV.
- You can write. Sharp, witty, on-brand copy comes naturally, and you can switch from playful banter to a genuine, helpful reply in a heartbeat.
- You live on the platforms and understand what makes people watch, comment and share, especially on TikTok and Instagram.
- You are organised and calm under pressure, good at juggling plans, briefs and last-minute changes without dropping the ball.
- You know when to have fun and when to escalate, handling the tough messages with care and a level head.
- You are proactive, curious and always collecting inspiration.
- You love sport, and you get why fans care.
- Most importantly, you bring energy. The community should feel more alive because you are running it.
Skills & experience
- A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, content or a related field.
- Two to three years in digital marketing, social media or community management, ideally within sport, entertainment or agency.
- Strong writing and editing skills. This is core to the role, not a nice to have.
- Confidence across the major social platforms and their native tools.
- Comfort with scheduling and publishing tools, and confidence reading analytics and reporting on growth and engagement across channels.
- A real passion for the brand and the team.
Bonus points for shooting photo or video on your phone, basic design or editing skills, or experience running a branded community.
You'll probably enjoy this role if...
You love sport, not necessarily because you play it, but because you get what it means to the people who do. Supporters are not just an audience. They are communities, traditions and weekends planned around kick-off, and you enjoy being right in the middle of that conversation.
We are an in-office team because collaboration matters and this role cannot be done from a distance. Some days you are at head office at DHL Stadium with the marketing and content teams, others you are pitch-side, at an event, or working the room on matchday. We take the work seriously because supporters deserve our best, but we do not take ourselves too seriously. Expect high standards and honest feedback, plus plenty of banter and people who jump in when it counts.
And the best part? You are not posting for a brand, you are part of the club. You will know the players and coaches, celebrate the wins and feel the losses, and you will be the one giving our fans a voice online. It is fast, demanding and occasionally unpredictable, but if you get energy from good people doing great work, you will feel right at home.
How to apply
Send your CV, a short cover letter and links to social channels, communities or content you have worked on to ***email_hidden***. Applications through LinkedIn will not be considered. Applications close on 11 October.
