FREIGHT CONTROLLERS – JUNIOR (DURBAN) & SENIOR (JOHANNESBURG)

Hominum Management Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a client in the freight forwarding industry for two positions: a Junior Multimodal Freight Controller in Durban and a Senior Freight Controller in Johannesburg.

POSITION 1: JUNIOR FREIGHT CONTROLLER

Location: Durban

Salary: R18,000–R25,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.

This position would suit someone who has progressed from a learner or assistant controller role into a controller position and is ready for their next career move. You will join a small operations team handling routine import and export shipments across multiple freight modes.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and monitor multimodal import and export shipments.

• Prepare and check shipment documentation.

• Liaise with clients, transport providers and clearing agents.

• Track shipments and provide progress updates.

• Coordinate clearance and delivery arrangements.

• Maintain accurate shipment records and resolve day-to-day operational queries.

Requirements:

• Approximately 3–5 years’ relevant freight forwarding experience, which may include experience as a learner or assistant controller.

• Multimodal freight experience is essential.

• Experience with both imports and exports is essential.

• Strong attention to detail, communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to manage routine shipments and work effectively within a small team.

POSITION 2: SENIOR FREIGHT CONTROLLER

Location: Johannesburg

Salary: R40,000–R55,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.

We are seeking an experienced freight forwarding professional with a strong operational background, capable of managing shipment coordination, client communication and operational follow-through.
