VACANCY: SAQCC-REGISTERED GAS SUPPRESSION DESIGNER

Fire and Security Techniques (FST) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented SAQCC-registered Gas Suppression Designer to join our technical team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing compliant gaseous fire suppression systems and providing technical support throughout the quotation, design, and project process.

Key responsibilities

• Design gaseous fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Complete hydraulic flow calculations and system design calculations.
• Prepare detailed system drawings, schematics and bills of materials.
• Review architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant SANS, ISO and manufacturer requirements.
• Prepare design documentation and certificates.
• Revise drawings and designs based on site conditions or project changes.
• Provide technical support to the sales team, installers and clients.
• Liaise with project stakeholders to obtain the information required for accurate designs.
• Maintain organized and accurate project and design records.

Minimum requirements

• Current SAQCC registration as a Gas Suppression Designer.
• Relevant experience in the design of gaseous fire suppression systems.
• Sound knowledge of applicable gas suppression standards and regulations.
• Experience with hydraulic calculation and design software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
• Strong technical, mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license.

Advantageous

• Draughtsman qualification or previous draughting experience.
• Knowledge of fire detection and associated control systems.
• Experience in the fire protection industry.
• Sales experience
