Factory Engineer

The Main Purpose of the function is

· To ensure that maintenance is carried out efficiently, to manage projects, to ensure high levels

of plant efficiency, maximum production, minimal down time.

· To ensure the health and safety of employees.

· To ensure that the plant meets with environmental and energy requirements.

Key Functions include

1. Manage factory engineering projects, contractors and all site work.

2. Manage the factory repairs, maintenance and construction programs to ensure optimal up time of the plant.

3. Manage the company assets and budgets associated with same, related to the site.

4. Manage the factory safety, health and environment programs and ensure legal compliance with the OHS Act and relevant government legislation.

5. Manage the plant, village and hostel utilities and infrastructure.

6. Ensure optimal efficiency, productivity and quality of plant and processes.

7. Ensure effective performance of subordinates and teams.

8. Comply with the requirements of ISO and Quality management Systems.

Minimum Requirements

· A mechanical or electrical graduate engineer (BEng/BSc Eng) who has not less than two years’ post-graduate practical experience in the operation and maintenance of a plant with a power generation capacity greater than 3000kW and who has passed the examination on the OSH Act and the regulations made thereunder, held by the Commission of Examiners, or;

  • A certificated engineer holding the Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) factories.
  • 6 years’ practical experience in an industrial plant, including knowledge of boiler operations.
  • 5 years’ experience in leading a skilled maintenance team.
  • 5 years’ experience in managing a computerised maintenance system.
  • 3 -5 years of experience working on CAD or similar drawing programs.
  • The ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
  • 3 – 5 years working experience on ERP software, SYSPRO will be advantageous.
  • Ability to speak and write English and communicate effectively.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft 365 Suite.

· A basic understanding of the Windows Operating system, being able to navigate the internet and use search engines effectively.

· Good leadership qualities.
