Compass Insure with an office in Johannesburg, South Africa, has a role just for you. Please see below for further details regarding the Financial Accountant role, which is available on a four-month fixed-term contract, commencing at the earliest possible date, within our Finance unit.

You can look forward to

• Financial Management - Preparation of the month end file and review for accuracy and completeness of information within agreed deadlines. Prepare technical accounts and profit commissions calculations. Review month end bank recons and provisions recons. Analyse actual vs budgeted expenses. Prepare monthly management accounts.
• Reporting - Prepare and/or review all relevant monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for management accounts, financial statements (AFS) according to IFRS17. Management of IFRS17 input and output checks. Prepare forecasts and budgets, Ad hoc requests and when required, SARS in relation to submissions within required deadlines to avoid penalties (VAT, EMP201 and Tax return).
• Management of the Treasury function - Review and supervise that creditors payments are processed accurately and on time.
• Internal and external stakeholder management - Engage with and collaborate with internal team members as well as across teams within the finance and wider teams in the organisation. Build and maintain good working relationships with all managers or heads of department
• Audit management - Ensure internal controls are in place with relevant document management for internal and external audits to ensure compliance. Engage with and co-operate with auditors and facilitate the audits during the year; Action any findings and recommendation

You come equipped with

• Essential qualification: Postgraduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Completion of articles would be an advantage.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience.
• Software: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
• Finance systems: Experience with SAP or other similar financial reporting software is advantageous.
• Personal attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, curiosity, attention to detail, accountability, business acumen and the ability to critically review your own work.
• Language: Proficient English language skills, at least C1 level.
